I’m currently a disability rights columnist for The Daily Mirror. I also guest-edited their groundbreaking award-nominated series Disabled Britain: Doing it for Ourselves.
I write mainly about disability and women’s rights and my work has featured in publications such as HuffPost, The Guardian, Glamour and The Big Issue. Here is my portfolio. My specialisms are political issues affecting disabled people, disability in the media and the gender health gap.
Between 2021 and 22 I was a health and disability writer for Verywell Health. I was also one of the few disabled journalists covering COVID from the beginning in 2020.
I am the founder of The Unwritten, a platform for disabled people to share their authentic stories. We are currently on hiatus.
In 2021 I won the Women in Journalism Georgina Henry Award at The British Journalism Awards. I was also listed in the 2021 Shaw Trust Disability Power 100, a list of the most influential disabled people in the UK.
I am a fierce defender of disability rights and I am currently campaigning to get IPSO to introduce guidelines on reporting disability. All info on that is here.
As well as writing, I also offer consultancy, training and speaking, to help further educate and inform about disability.
